We asked a pair of designers to pick their favorite HighBoy gifts—one they’d like to give, and one they’d like to receive. Borrow their ideas for your own holiday inspiration.

One gift I’d like to give: This handsome Louis Philippe figured walnut armoire is the perfect piece to jumpstart my son’s antique collection. It is masculine and versatile and can serve as closet storage or a bar in his New York apartment. This is an important antique that would be a wonderful investment piece for him.
One gift I’d like to receive: Not many things would make me happier than a red Moroccan leather folding screen. This Continental Edwardian style four-panel screen in cayenne red would be just the thing to spice up the corner of a room. I could see using this in my bedroom hung on the wall as a dynamic focal point or tucked into a corner. It also is a great way to cover up a thermostat or fuse box in the living room.
Andrea Schumacher, principal of Andrea Schumacher Interiors in Denver, Colorado
One gift I’d like to give: This gorgeous Chinese cloisonné dragon bowl would compliment any interior space. It’s a beautifully simple way to make a big design statement—for example, in an entry or on a dining room console.
One gift I’d like to receive: I would take anything by [20th-century furniture stylist] Karl Springer. I love this pair of Mid-Century Springer-style Lucite and chrome lamps. I would top them with amethyst silk custom lampshades with gold foil on the inside.
